1979 : UK101Based on the Ohio Superboard computer, it used a 6502 processor running at 1MHz. Initially it had 4K of memory and 1K of video memory. Later upgraded to 8K main memory. Built on a single motherboard from a kit, it included an interface to an ordinary cassette player to save and load programs. Microsoft 8K Basic in ROM, able to run most simple basic programs like those published in 'Practical Computing'.

Microtan 65
1980 : Microtan 65 Using a 6502 processor at 1MHz, 1K video, 8K main memory. Basic unit built from a kit on a single card which plugged into a backplane mounted in a Veroboard 19" rack. Later cards built included 16K memory card, extra video card with its own 6502 processor capable of drawing graphics (16K memory), and a floppy disc interface and printer port. Designed and built a TTL / Transistor interface to drive a Philips TV via the SCART socket.

Research Machines Nimbus (80186) 1986 : Research Machines Nimbus MSDOS 2.x and Windows !! Not an IBM compatible, but ran RM Basic and a version of BBC Basic. Memory 640K and a 10MB HD, the 80186 chip ran at 10MHz.

IBM, Compaq, Elonex, etc. Also owned a Mitsubishi portable for two years. This had 1MB main memory + an 80286 chip running at 12MHz. The HD was 40MB. The first serious PC purchased was an Elonex 486-33. This started with 8MB memory and a 170MB HD running Windows 3.1. This was gradually modified adding more memory, a 540MB HD, CD-ROM and Cyrix 486-66 chip. This m/c was later stripped and sold and some parts re-cycled into the current m/c.
